For some reason, it seems as though Thanksgiving came too soon this year, and has thrown us all off for Christmas. Everything has been too soon… the Handel’s Messiah Sing-Along at the Kennedy Center was on the first weekend of December, as was the Christmas Revels. We’ve already been to see the winter display at […]

We have the most scientific method of selecting random winners here at Chez KoE. In fact, it’s so random, it has become one of the King of Everything’s favorite games.
You see, telling the KoE to choose a number between one and ten invariably resulted in him choosing the number one — or the number […]

Let me guess. Some of you are fighting for child support of have given up on ever receiving it. You’re looking for a new set of tires, or a home, or even a board game or a toy or two for the younger children… or a car to take the kids to serious […]

If you ever stop by the nation’s capital around the holiday season, stop by the National Botanic Gardens. This year the incredible train set runs outside, while inside, extraordinary models of the city’s most famous buildings have been constructed of plant materials. Absolutely worth a trip or two. Here you go, ladies, a little beach blanket escapism in the season of Yule.
Big Boned by Meg Cabot. Who wants a copy? I’m telling you, this is good fun. You won’t learn how to solve world hunger, but you will get a laugh or two and spend some pleasurable escape time reading this book. It’s […]

I’m going through the photos I have taken this year with the amazing little camera my parents gave me for Christmas 2006. I’m sorting (on my hard drive) and editing (in Photoshop) and reminiscing about the year my little family has had. Quite the single mother tour de force.
One of my presents to Nicolas is […]

A big THANK YOU to Parents for Ethical Marketing, the Corporate Babysitter, for writing about this one. With all the scares recently about poisonous toys, it’s hard to know what holiday presents to wrap up in pretty paper, and what toys get wrapped up in trash bags.
Never fear, for HealthyToys.org is here! Forty percent […]

Once again, the season is speeding by in a red-and-green blur. In a few more weeks it will be over and we’ll all be back to business as usual, going to work, making dinner, reading stories. I’m feeling a little out of it, I suppose because money’s tight and the kid is sick and […]
