a mother’s simple thank you
I don’t know what it is like to fight in a war. I know what it’s like to fight for my life, I know what it’s like to fight for my child’s safety. I know what it’s like to fight my own demons and fight to make the smallest little corner of my world a kinder, better place.
But I do not know what it is like to fight a war.
So to all of you who have chosen to fight so that I do not have to, I say thank you. To all the mothers and fathers who have lost their babies to war, I grieve for you, and will never think their sacrifice was useless.
I pray my son will never have to fight in a war. I hope that we will all try to expand our minds and embrace thoughts, cultures, and opinions that do not match our own. I hope we all try to understand one another a little better.
I hope our men and women fighting in the world today will come home, alive and relatively unscathed.
