a wing and a prayer
The KoE’s dad arrived safely, albeit late, last night. On the eve of my first business trip for the Big Job, no less. I got no sleep last night, wolfed down a ton of vitamins and hopped into a cab. Got on the plane, was sick from taking too many vitamins on an empty stomach. Got in a cab and raced downtown. Had to get out of the cab a mile from the office, though the cab kindly let me off on a corner with no less than three trash cans and a well placed shrub, should I have to hurl.
Meeting meeting meeting plane home, delayed because of high winds.
No kidding. The woman next to me white knuckled it all the way down, the baby in front of me cried piteously, and I prayed silently, “Please, don’t play some sick joke on me and kill me while his papa’s here.” The back of the plane fishtailed like a VW Rabbit on the ice, but the pilot held true and got us on the ground.
The boys are sleeping in tomorrow, and I’ll have a hassle-free morning to get into work early and get stuff done.

Glad to hear you got down safely. I hate when planes act loopy. My sister wanted to be a flight attendant until a plane she was on dropped more than 1000 ft for no good reason on her way to Costa Rica. Then she decided to apply the Spanish to becoming an ESL teacher instead.
Are you going to be traveling much?

It was miserable. But it seems that’s the kind of landing i’ve always had coming into my home town. Luckily, I’m going to be traveling at least every other week, but it’s just to NYC, so I can take the train up the night before, stay in a nice hotel, and be ready to go the next morning. Less expensive, too.
I sure don’t blame your sister for choosing another path. My cousin just graduated from attendant school. I hope she likes it!
