Pelosi gets some backhanded compliments in Washington Post Style section
I was flipping through the Washington Post on Friday when I saw an article on the front page of the Style section… about Nancy Pelosi’s WARDROBE.
Did we discuss Dan Hastert’s signature style, how ’suited’ he looked for his position? Did we analyze whether he could play the part in his off the rack suits or would he have to upgrade to a designer label? Did we tackle the age old question: boxers or briefs?
What were they thinking? Am I better suited to being a single mother if I wear a label that says, ‘Creative, flexible, but firm?’ Jeezopeet, she’s the next Speaker of the House, not some berloody airhead fashion model (with apologies to all the brilliant models out there, like Iman). Can’t we give the woman some street cred for her brains, tenacity, and political savvy, and leave the discussion of wardrobe out of the race? How chauvanistic.
What is the correct look for single mothers? What on earth will the Style section do if Speaker Pelosi shows up in track suit and pony tail one morning?

But in the meantime, I invite you to peruse his weekend muttering that so elotquently expands on my brief WTF regarding an article in the Style section of the Washington Post wherein our next Speaker of the House is imagined as asking herself, “Am I pretty?” […]
