Benefits of being a single mom: the grill
A few weeks ago, I bought a grill. My grill. Big and black and shiny. With a thermometer in the lid. With a grill in the bottom for the coals to set on. With an ash catcher in the bottom. It’s beautiful.
And it’s all mine. As a sometimes silly female, I have always deferred to the men when it comes to grilling, even when it was something I had prepared and knew how to grill properly, like my favorite grilled fruits… I would always stand by and let the mens have all the fun.
No longer. Now I have to wander back down to the hardware store to get a chimmeny to light the coals with, thus avoiding nasty lighter fluid altogether, and invest in some barbeque tools. I know, it’s buying new, and I swore I wouldn’t do that, but it’s the exception to my rule.
The only problem is… there’s only the two of us. It’s hard to do a charcoal grill for just our little family. If we had a gas grill, no problem, just fire that bad boy up and bob’s yer uncle. But there is a ritual of fanning the flames, waiting for the coals to come to just the right temperature, that requires time and patience and deserves a feast, not just a few chicken breasts thrown on the grill.

Don’t buy the new if you haven’t already! I have two sets and can gift you one.
