There was a fascinating report on NPR’s Morning Edition yesterday on children, imaginative play, television and marketing.
“Old-Fashioned Play Builds Serious Skills” by Alix Spiegel. It brings to light some fascinating things we’ve suspected but couldn’t put our finger on…

He seems disconnected, it’s like he doesn’t care about the new baby.
She doesn’t pay any attention to him anymore, not since the baby arrived.
If you found this website because you’re considering divorce… if you’re feeling lost, angry, resentful, confused, and/or terrified now that your little family includes a baby, I recommend that you read […]

I am secretly very proud of my son, usually. It doesn’t help that today, I forgot my cell at the new office (yay, new office!) and when I took the KoE back with me to pick it up, my compatriot on the business development side of things waited til my son’s back was turned […]

Do you worry that you won’t be able to provide a balance for your child as he or she grows up and misses a father figure? Some of you are full-time solomothers, single parents without significant involvement from your child’s father (and, I suspect, there are some solodads who lurk and read here; know I […]

I’m sure you’ve read about this one by now: Mom finds alcohol in the car she bought for her 19 year old son, and so she takes out an ad in the local paper and sells it. Not only does she sell it, but she tells the whole town why:

I sure am…

We might think the stars have it made, but they have to get up and take a shower just like the rest of us. Like other well-known, affluent, successful people in this world, they might have access to nannies and private schools and a more flexible schedule than us poor 9 to 5 slobs, but […]

I was amazed. I was astounded. I was… dumbstruck by the fact that he didn’t know how to mop a floor. He had never had to do so, and very calmly suggested that I show him how to do it, and then he would know.
He was thirty-something years old!

I’m so dismayed.
He’s off his rocker. Today he hit a girl in his class because he didn’t want to share the monkey bars with her. A few days ago, he knocked the same girl’s lunch tray into her lap. He says she teases him and tells him potty jokes. I say I don’t care.
