Help a mother out
This season, everybody needs somebody. My inbox is filled with articles from local newspapers from around the country–and the world–telling a family’s tale of hardship and need. Like this article from the Savanah Morning News, about a single mother who broke her ankle and is out of work. She’s looking for a little help with the holidays.
Your local paper should be filled with stories like these. Your church, synagog, or community hall will know of someone who could use a little cheer this holiday. What about the families with children and loved ones overseas? Do they need some extra care right now? Ask around. Shelters, halfway and rehabilitation houses, all have people who need a little more than they have. Gift certificates, non-perishable foodstuffs, maybe an afternoon at a museum or a movie.
It’s a goodness to be able to help. I’ve been lifted up on the shoulders of so many women these past few months (and some fantastic men, too!) that I’m nearly in a place where I can help.
Shhh. I am, unfortunately, back on the rolls of the unemployed. My short term assignment is over. Anyone need an online communications guru or a technical writer?
Cause you know what I want for Christmas? Not a fancy car. Not perfume. I want a job. I know there are so many single mothers out there like my unmet friend on crutches who would echo that wish loud and clear.

I see that you offer articles about mothers who have gotten help from local agencies, etc. But I am looking for resources to help me, do you know where I can find the help? I am a single mother of three, I have no family other than my children, I got laid off because the attorney I had been working for couldn’t afford to pay me, I’ve used all my savings have no car, and I can’t seem to find help anywhere? I’m trying to hold it together for my children but I’m really scared and don’t know how to fix everything… Can you help locate the resources so I can get back on my feet? I don’t want to lose my children they are the reason I get up everyday. If you know of anything please forward the information to me. Thank you and good luck with your magazine I hope when I get back on my feet I can offer help to other mothers trying to fight the world alone as well.
