Home, sweet home
I limped off the plane last night, too late to scoop up the King of Everything after a week away. So tired of moving. So good to be home again, back in the arms of all I love and for which I am grateful. I’d called the Kid every day, at least once, but usually three or four times, so I didn’t feel as though I’d missed anything important while I was away. When I woke up and called him this morning, he answered my parents’ phone, and squealed and laughed when I told him I was home. “When are you coming, mama?” he chirped, and agreed that perhaps, NOW was soon enough. I walked the few flights of stairs that separate my little home from my parents’ rooftop abode; there he sat, enthralled by the Imagination Movers, happy enough to bound over for a kiss and a hug before returning to his show. They had made waffles, and so I enjoyed a waffle with fresh raspberries, and coffee strong as only my mother knows how to make it. There were no histrionics, no dramas, no scenes. The life this kid leads is as seamless as it can be, and he moves easily from me to my parents and back again.
I’ve got a 60 day dash from here to the elections, and then we’ll see what shape my life takes. My boy is a constant, of course. He’s my guiding light. My parents are a joy to me, and my friends are a great comfort. The job is a means to an end, sheltering us and keeping us healthy and happy, no matter what the boy’s father does or does not do to keep in touch and provide for his son. He hasn’t called to speak to his kid since the boy fell off the monkey bars in the beginning of August.
It feels so good to be home. I owe you all comments and thoughts, and I’ll get caught up on them, now that I’m not relying upon a Blackberry to send my words out to the blogosphere.

That seamless thing is pretty awesome, isn’t it? We are lucky to have that.
Imagination Movers was a big hit here, as well.
