How important is your health, single mom?
Following my recent health scare, I took matters into my own hands and signed up for a trainer at the gym (they had a fantastic deal). This is my second week working out with a professional, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to learn how to exercise.
If you don’t have the money or the time to go to the gym, I’d recommend that you invest in an exercise ball and some aerobics or yoga tapes. My trainer has me doing some serious core work on the ball, and it’s much more effective than sit ups and crunches on the mat.
You’re your children’s primary source of comfort and protection. Get yourself into shape. Do it for yourself. Do it for your kids.

We just joined the Y here in Colorado, and their child care is built into the membership cost (which is very reasonable.) It’s the first time I’ve looked forward to working out, ever, but at the moment, getting some “me” time is key!

When I became a single mom, I started running. It’s cheap and can be done at the gym or outside in the warmer months of the year. I’m now at the point of doing road races …. not winning any awards but it’s so gratifying to simply cross the finish line. Good for the body and the soul! And my kids are getting involved as they see me completing these events.
