just in case I start feeling sorry for myself again
I have to write a eulogy for my aunt who passed away just before Valentine’s Day. The memorial is tomorrow. She was a neat woman, and I will miss her. I am lucky to still have my parents, and I am grateful for all their love and support during this difficult transition in our lives, me and the King of Everything.
Or I could be this young woman, a single mother who enlisted with the Army and is being deployed this month. Her two year old son will stay with grandparents. SHe won’t get to see him much over the next 18 months. Kids change so fast at this age, I couldn’t imagine having to choose to be absent in order to give him a good life. But at least she has a good reason for not coming home for dinner! I hope she helps save lives out there, and comes home safely.

I was wondering if your aunt had passed away. I’m sure you’ll write a wonderfully apt (sounds odd, appropriate?) eulogy for her.
And yes, reading about soldier parents who are forced to leave their child(ren) for extended periods of times is a reminder of the good life many of us live.

Yes, she passed just before Valentine’s Day. We had a lovely day of remembering her and saying goodbye, today. I’m exhausted. going to pack for my business trip and crawl into bed.
