Let me tell you a little bit about my favorite SoloMother
My favorite solo mother lost two and a half fingers in an industrial accident last year, which seriously curtailed musical aspirations, unless you know a really good two fingered bass player… and has full custody of his two little kids, aged three and nine months. Full time.
And he does it. He does it with a grace and humor that puts me to shame. Yes, he. He’s a single mother, and a single father, and these kids of his are blossoming. He’s figuring out how to play music again, going to school and earning a 3.9 — and still takes his kids to the park. He’s negotiating the system, getting food stamps, living with his parents til he can find a home for his little family. and in all the months I’ve known him, I’ve never heard him complain or lose his temper.
I’ll give you his story, in his own words, soon. For now, let me tell you, ladies and gentlemen, we can all learn a thing or two from this gentle man.

Hi, I’m on the other side of the fence for today, just wondering where does a single mom of triplets (me) can get urgent help. I’m unemployed, about to lose my home and everything else, do do receive child support (yet), do not qualify for welfare, medical, medicare or unemployment since I was self employed and did well for a long time, always paid my taxes, never received any governmental help, stock in limbo now but desperate to survive with my triplets?

Lulu, I can’t give you very specific information because i don’t know where you live. I know that you can reach out to the social services agencies in your area. I’d also reach out to a local church, womens’ shelter, or community group that might be able to advocate on your behalf. I hope you find the help you need, please let me know how you’re doing.
