Linkfest: where’s the help when you need it, single mom?
My recent post about the frustrations of collecting child support brought two good sites for help, information and support.
Jimmy Verner suggests checking out the Child Support Web for great resources when it comes to collecting your child’s money. And Kelly shared that SupportKids.com has helped her get what she was owed, though they do take a percentage of what they collect–still, 70 or 80% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
So, I’m throwing the question back to you, solomothers, my favorite single mothers out there: what resources have worked for you, to feed, clothe, house and take care of your kids? What adoption agency did you use? Did you use a great invitro clinic? How did you come up with the funds to do adoption or fertilization? Did you start a babysitting co-op, join a farm share, navigate the system?
My biggest source of help has been from the community of mothers in the neighborhood where I live, and my wonderful parents, who believe in me and love my child through thick and thin.

I’m mostly on my own.
My parents and all other instant relative are living few hundred miles away from me, but luckily I have friends who care, and giving me the moral support when I needed it most.
I’m not quite sure how to get my children’s money collected as my ex did not pay for their alimony since last year, and I see no intention of him to pay the money.
I’m not ready to fight for it at the moment though, since I’m not firm with my own financial, he might not pay at all if he got upset or angry.
I only hope that I can get more projects to earn enough and not depending on him at all. I’m really sick of asking money from him.

my family are my main support base, they always have been…
i could not possibly have survived as i have without my mom and dad’s love and support.

One other place where I’ve found a lot of support is through Parents Without Partners. They have local chapters all over the country where single parents get together for various activities. I met a lot of girlfriends through them, and we became a great support system for each other.

I am a single teenage mother and im finding how very hard it is. I had to put off school and atart working to support me and my son. I live in a shelter with him and i find myself depressed most of the time. I dont like the idea of having to raise my son in a shelter and i would love some advice and maybe some resources that can help us out.

I’d just like to know why the IRS takes presidence over my child support. My ex-husband admittedly did not pay his federal taxes so that the IRS would come in and garnish his check. Because a person can only have one garnishment come out at a time (In my state OR) he has found another way to not pay.

i have been trying with all my might to get help for my four girls, i am a single mother not by choice, of two sets of twins four year olds and fifteen year old respectively, iam seeking help because since i h ave found out iam diabetic, our life ahs taken a turn for the worse and has now limited my finances because iam now paying for medication , please, please iam begging, can anyone contact me please, my email address is deirdriegrant@hotmail.com i am using a public computer , and my minutes are going .GOD BLESS DEE AND CHILDREN
