Mamas for Obama? check out Obama’s mama
I really wish I had met this woman, as she sounds incredible. Perhaps her habit of playing MLK’s speeches to her son have something to do with his unconscious oratory style that is so much like the King’s.
MSNBC is carrying Janny Scott’s article on Obama’s mother from the New York Times, and it’s a great read. I sure wish that Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro were still around to see the wonder she helped nurture.
“She was a very, very big thinker,” said Nancy Barry, a former president of Women’s World Banking, an international network of microfinance providers, where Ms. Soetoro worked in New York City in the early 1990s. “I think she was not at all personally ambitious, I think she cared about the core issues, and I think she was not afraid to speak truth to power.”
Take heart, single mothers. No matter what the press, the sociologists, and your baby daddies are saying about us, know that we can raise strong, honorable, compassionate, amazing children.
