move over, hand sanitizer! Now there’s MomSpit!
I kid you not. Thanks to Ratphooey for pointing this one out to me.
MOMSPIT.
Did you know, hand sanitizer can give children alcohol poisoning? With ethyl alcohol content at over 60% for some brands, just a dab’ll do ya for serious intoxication in the toddler set. But with staph infections creeping up on area schools, panicked parents and teachers are in the damned if you do, damned if you don’t category when it comes to kids and their hands, which go everywhere, by the way. I remember a game we played in elementary school: each child dabbed his or her palms into talcum powder and were then told not to touch anything.
You should have seen where the powder ended up.
But some ingenious person who will forever have me wondering, “Why didn’t I think of that?” has come up with MOMSPIT, a non-toxic, no soap or water required hand cleanser that will have the teetotaler in me sighing with relief for months. I can’t tell you if it actually works or not, since I’ve never seen it in person, but I can tell you this…
My son would hock his dinosaur collection if he thought it could stop me from spitting on a napkin and attacking his face.

I swore I’d never use spit to clean my kids faces… it’s gross (both my mom and sister would do it to me), and probably more likely to spread illness than whatever is on the kid…
I notice lola’s face is messy, she gets a “as soon as you can get to the bathroom splash your face with water, if I’m not near a source, or I wet my hand, or I just wipe dry.
I think one advantage to having been a young mother is I remember vividly all the things that drove me nuts, that really had no value to upbringing a child (of course there’s a host of other things I do to drive my kids nuts)
from now on, I’m just gonna use MomSpit
