My funny Valentine
Being a single mom is an adventure filled with bright moments. Like tonight.
The King of Everything and I have been planning our Valentine’s Day date night for a week. We’ve been so excited about it, even though it’s the same date night we ever do — Johnny Rockets. It was so much fun to sit at the counter and sing along to Brown Eyed Girl and Alley Oop. He was the crazy Kissy Monster and tried to eat my nose. He made me FOUR valentines, including a super duper glittery glamour-y heart with a photo of him on it that he wants me to hang up in my office. We shared the french fries. He gave me jelly fruit slices he picked out special-like because he knows I can’t eat chocolate. I am, apparently, his ‘favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite mama!’
Sweet, sweet boy. He has come so far in the 16 months we’ve been on our own. He is a kind, compassionate soul with a wicked sense of humor, a great sense of fun, and a thirst for knowledge that will stand him in good stead. He is so sure of himself and his place in the world; he is surrounded by caring, loving folk who demand great things of him, and who encourage him to succeed. He looks out for the little kids, aspires to be one of the big kids, and stands tall among his peers. I couldn’t ask for a finer little man.
Thank you, sweet boy. You are something wonderful.

Awww… so Adorable. My twin niece and nephew were my Valentine’s. Just as delightful though they can’t talk yet. :)
