my time here is almost done
I wish I were staying for the entire DNC. As it is, I’m not even going to get close to the convention center. My organization is hosting an event downtown tonight, and I’m herding cats. I’ve begged all my coworkers to grab some Obama swag for my son and his best friend, and that’s about as good as I can do.
I wish I were home right now. I missed the boy’s first day of Kindergarten, though I got a great report from his grammy about the morning. I think this new teacher is going to be good for him. She gives no quarter. We’re going to put up two big pieces of paper on his wall and we’ll make our lists of what Good Guys and Bad Guys do… since he’s so set on being the good guy, I figure he ought to know what that means. I can’t wait to have breakfast with him on Wednesday morning. My folks are so great… they even explained to him that mom has one more trip to make, and it’s an important push because we’ve got to get a new president elected, and then mom won’t be away so much. Works for me; I do hope he doesn’t blame me if Obama doesn’t get elected.
Denver is beautiful, and I’m trying valiantly to get used to the altitude. Yesterday we had some free time, so one of my coworkers and I snuck off to Colorado Springs and saw Seven Falls and the Garden of the Gods. Beautiful country out here. Makes me proud to be an American. I had grand fantasies of bringing the KoE out here for a vacation one day. He’d love it.
I’m only hours away from a grueling two days, as our event goes into the wee hours of the morning, and then we pack it up, get it back to the hotel, get into bed, get up, and get on the plane for a whole day of travel. It’s all going to be fine. I’m so excited… to be a part of this historic week, to help an event run smoothly, and to be home with my family.

Wow, it sounds like you are in the midst of something pretty exciting. I will have to look at your back posts and see what it is you do. :D
I have a friend who is from Colorado Springs and the photos that I’ve seen are lovely.

Sounds exciting! I lived in Denver for 2 years, and no one back east ever believes me when I tell them how flat and hot it was. And you’ve almost convinced me to see a Woody Allen movie :-)
