Thrifty Mommy posted a link to the Festival of Frugality and there are some great ideas over there. And in case you are feeling tired and overworked and a little underwhelmed with the run up to the Event that is 2008, you can learn some political wisdom from the feet of an 18 month old in Madame Meow’s essay on the difference between donkeys and elephants over at a Daily Dose of Zen Sarcasm.
I’m out of time, chicks and ducks. Watched my son swim (SWIM!) in the pool after work today and now I’m scrambling. But oh, it was worth it.

How are you getting a five year old to swim? My seven year old is learning, but my five year old refuses to take off the floaties. Is it a magical formula? Share!!

Kathy, I have no idea how it happened. And he’s only FOUR!
But if you want your child to get interested in going underwater, one of the best tricks is to drop something irresistible to the bottom of the shallow end and encourage the kid to dive and get it. Good luck!
