OMG IT’S ALMOST VALENTINE’S DAY!

by christina on February 9th, 2008

Thank goodness I did laundry today.

See, I’d glanced at the class list the King of Everything’s teacher had kindly sent home, then promptly put it down somewhere and forgot about it. This morning, as I was loading the dryer, a little speck of handwriting peeked out from under the dryer sheets: …”for Valentine’s Day (optional)” read the scrap.

OMG.

Valentine’s Day. “YEAH!” hollered the KoE, his little hand up and ready for a high five. “Valentine’s Day. What are we doing?”

Guess who got roped into making 24 Bee Mine Valentine cards with pipe cleaners, construction paper, googly eyes, glitter glue, and lollipops?

He’s going to have to write his classmates’ names on the hearts, though. Just as soon as he’s done making King Cobras and spiderman webs with pipe cleaners. At least I have laid my claim on all the black and yellow ones.

Well, at least I know what I’m going to be doing on Valentine’s Day. I’ll make sure the boy has his valentines at school, and when I pick him up in the evening, we’ll go on a date. To Johnny Rockets, most likely, because you know the kid is crazy for old time rock n roll. We’ll split a sundae, I’ll spend the weekend breaking out, and it will be a blast.

At least I’ll have a date, this year. What are you all doing for Valentine’s Day?

P.S. Do NOT eat the whole bag of conversation hearts by yourself.
P.P.S: Instructions for the Bee Mine cards can be found at the Family Fun website HERE.

So, is it bad that I’ve already made it halfway through the bag of conversation hearts? I will be going out for a special dinner with my one and only, my four-year-old daughter, and cherishing every minute!

Damn, if you lived nearby, we could make it a double date. LOL

I’m about half-way through with my bag of conversation hearts, too. But I don’t like the pink ones. Which of course only means that they will be eaten last, not that I’d throw them away. Grrr.
