Quality makeup on a single mother budget?

by christina on July 31st, 2008

1510_deptimg.jpgOO thanks to a simpatico single mother, I know where to get new makeup: e.l.f.

Or do I? It never occurred to me to doubt the word of a friend, and I’m sure she took this all on face value: they’re rebranding, she said, and everything is a steal! But another solomother tipped me to the truth: e.l.f. isn’t associated with a major department store, isn’t rebranding, and is always $1. It just goes to show you… always check with Snopes if something seems too good to be true. I’ve placed a token order just to see if this really is a miracle deal, or a scam.

Image is taken from the e.l.f. website, with full thanks and props.

I so don’t want to be a downer, but e.l.f. isn’t associated with Nordstroms, or Bloomingdales, or any dept. store. I just thought you should know that the ‘re-branding’ thing is a hoax.

Not that you shouldn’t share the info if it’s a good deal because I’ll check it out too.

Hey, that’s me! Sorry about that… I’m usually a huge Snopes checker, but didn’t think to check this out (it was sent to me by a good friend too). The good news is, it doesn’t seem to be a scam, just misinformation. So it’s still a good deal!

Yep, I used to by it from the grocery store on the corner, before I moved. Much better quality than other inexpensive brands.
