Saturday down time
I’ve wanted to get back to the Balancing Act and what it means for all us single parents, all us overworked parents, all the mothers and fathers who never feel like they’re in the right place. I’ve been sitting here in front of my computer for about two hours, looking for the energy and inspiration to write the darned piece.
I just don’t have it.
What I do have is the answer to why the bathrooms in this house always smell faintly of the public urinal, no matter how hard I scrub the toilets and the floor around it: the Kid. Tonight, I finally figured it out. He doesn’t look where the pee is going. Tonight, he peed all over the wall behind the toilet. Peed. All. Over.
There will be massive disinfection of all surfaces, vertical and horizontal, tonight. Again. Because I’m that skeeved.
So, no deep discussions tonight. Instead, here’s some random bits to pull out of my head and entertain and amuse you. Pith has to wait. I’m all out.
If you’ve got a toddler and you’re screaming Barney songs in your sleep, don’t despair. I saw Hot Peas N’ Butter (buttah, when you say dat) this summer with the King of Everything and we can all funk out to Number One, and love along to Deep Down In My Heart. The lead singer is a warm soul drifting up from the CD, and the music is sophisticated enough that parents will be bopping along to the groove. And your teenager could do worse than to get addicted to the bass-driven hooks in Muse’s Supermassive Black Hole.
If you’re looking for a great book that sneaks up on you and gives you faith that no matter what happens, life is going to be ok… read Sight Hound.
Every garden should have a passion vine.

If you’re not sleeping now, you should come on over to my house. it’s going to be a long night. too much work to catch up on, too little time to do it. What gets you through the long days and quiet, quiet nights?

Passion Vine? Is that what that purple flower is? OMG, it’s taking over my entire property! I got some spores in a load of hay apparently a few years ago and that stuff is EVERYWHERE. It’s horribly invasive (at least here in Florida) and the pods, which look like little watermelons, are insuring that I’ll never see my fence again. Good to know. Just an excess of passion. :D So, anybody who needs a little passion, give me a ring and you can come get all you want!!
I’m not sleeping either. I rarely do, without the benefit of chemicals. I love the night. It’s so quiet! And with three kidlets in the house, it’s the only time I get anything that requires concentration done at all.

Kelly, insomnia sucks. I was using a combination of amino acids with great success for the worst of it.

LOL KATHY not Kelly. My brain is mush. Sorry.
Bowrag, I hope you at least clean up after yourself. I was… horrified.
