Shout out to my first single mom friend
Today was the Kite Festival. Today was tired happy excited kids on the Mall, running around in a fitful wind trying to keep their kites off the ground.
Today was the second day that the KoE’s papa is in town to visit for a week.
Today was running into people I know, people I love, people I know and love and should spend more time with.
Tonight, one of those people came over with her almost six year old son (how one Earth did that happen? How did he get so big?) and had dinner with me in my OH MY GOD I’M MOVING IN A WEEK HURRY UP AND PACK house.
She was the first woman who helped me when we landed in DC. I am a lucky woman indeed to have her and her son in my life.
Love you, lady. Thanks for catching us when we fell, and putting us on the right path.
Mothers, if you are contemplating the single path, cultivate friendships with single mothers whose strengths catch your weaknesses, and vice versa. Be there for the next single mother who comes along. Never forget. We need each other.
