Single mother’s community helps turn on the heat
I’ve written often about how well and how kindly my community has helped me get on my feet. This article from The Capital, in Annapolis, Maryland, tells an extraordinary story of how an entire community pulled together to replace a single mother’s heater.
She had been sleeping with her two children under all their blankets on the couches in the living room, a wood burning stove staving off the deadly chill of 11 degree weather. Thanks to a phone call from a fellow Girl Scout Mother, an wonderful chain reaction got a whole community motivated to help.
When many people do a little, it doesn’t cost anyone too much. Who can you help today?

yes, the link is fixed, thanks, lady. I need to get you in touch with my friend, go to Fannfare and introduce yourself to Amy. She’s my friend who was going to move to where you’re going, and she’ll have some advice and a shoulder to lean on for you. Tell her I sent you, she’s expecting you.
