Solo Mother

Never mind weather in the low 70’s lately, it’s time for fall.
The King of Everything has been fascinated by falling leaves since he was a baby. I remember one January we came back to the US for a visit–we’d been living in the desert for a while, and the little guy had never seen leaves on the ground, that he could remember. We must have spent an hour in the circle that day, throwing leaves into the air, crinkling them between our fingers, and laughing like wild things.

It’s Adult Time at casa SoloMother. This week has been hellish, to wit: countdown to elections is making my office nuts, I’m sick, the kid gets a cast, I hurt my back this morning after a night full of nightmares about work, I have too much to do and not enough software to do it, my dining room table is broken, the ex is on holiday but hasn’t caught up with his child support payment (explain to me again how that works?)…

I think I’ve got two weeks of after work time to pack up our whole house and move to mid-town. The packing would go much more quickly if the King of Everything would stop stealing my boxes. Currently, he is doing cartwheels through the house inside the box.

The King of Everything and I had tunamac for dinner tonight. You know tunamac? You get a box of mac n cheese, cook it up like he box tells you to, and then add canned tuna and hot peas to the mix. It’s one of our favorite comfort foods. I can even remember the ex eating most of the pot back in the day when we still were speaking to each other. It hits all those spots, even the ones you didn’t know needed hitting. Mac n cheese, in all its variations, is one of those Good Mood foods.
