Things I love: my trashcan
My trash can. I heart it.
Simple Human makes amazing products for everyday life. I haven’t bought a box of trash bags in months. This little beauty is a wonder of design on so many levels.
- It fits under my sink.
- It is just the right size for grocery bags.
- There are these convenient little hooks to secure the handles so the bag doesn’t slip
- The little caddy beneath the rack holds up to 50 grocery bags
- The caddy has a no spill groove to catch any accidental leaks
What does this have to do with being a single mother? Well, I live in a fixer-upper that never got fixed, but it’s what we can afford. We have mice. My landlord hasn’t bothered to come around to locate and plug up whatever hole these critters are using to get in, but I’m not going to help them along by leaving trash out for them to rummage in. If, like me, you have a small kitchen, finding a place to put your trash can isn’t easy. I only wish I had a place to put a second one, for recycling.

That’s swanky! My old apartment had a very basic version under the sink - just the lid and the arms for the bag; no storage, no drip tray.
Space for recycling is the bane of the small kitchen. Ugh.
