thrifty ideas: clothes
A lovely local mother just gifted me with the motherload of handmedowns for the King of Everything. I’m in the process of washing and sorting it — he’s got enough clothes to last him three years now! I’m so blessed. There are so many clothes that I’m probably going to split the lot and find another mama who needs such a gift and make her day.
My neighborhood has an amazing group of families, and these mothers and fathers supported me and helped me when the King and I first landed back in the US almost a year ago. One of those amazing Moms gave me her sister’s hoard of handmedowns today.
If you don’t have an active neighborhood organization, you might want to have a clothes party. It might work better for a group of women than for kid clothes.
Invite all your girlfriends to clean out their closets and come on over to your house. Serve refreshments, and everyone can go through each other’s outfits. By the end of the evening, you should have some great new (to you) clothes. To really spice things up, have each friend invite a friend.
There. I’m back to cleaning clothes and getting the house ready for the ex. Yes. He’s staying with us. I don’t need any more well-meaning friends to call me up and warn me against getting back together again. As the saying goes, “A snowball’s chance in hell.” I think my ex would agree with me. I can ask him tomorrow afternoon, if you’d like.

Thanks, Angel. I’m going to need them. Hamd’allah, it’s not for ever.

My soon to be ex stays at our house when he comes into town and believe me, there is no chance of any getting together (if you know what I mean). That is one of the main reasons for our divorce, no itimacy.. But its great for the girls to have him home.

Irene, I’m glad you can do what’s best for your children. It’s hard, isn’t it? Having him in your home. But it’s for the best.
though I must say, I resent doing his dishes. ;-)
