unexpected disadvantages to being single
I bought the prettiest dress this afternoon. It fits perfectly.
At least, I think it does. I’m not entirely certain, because it zips up the back, and for some reason, I couldn’t manage the zipper. Which means, when I want to wear the dress, I’m going to have to run over to my neighbor’s house and ask her to zip me.
sigh.
I have also developed an inexplicable crush on platform heels. Yes. Me, with my momma feets and body. Go figure.
So all you solomothers out there, all you single moms and mommies, please take my advice: buy dresses that zip up the side and save yourself the difficulty.
That is all. Have a great weekend, and be safe.

hi, just stumbled across your site and thought I would comment on this… it doesn’t work on every dress, I guess it depends on the style and cut… but if you grab a paperclip, thread it through the eyelet on the zipper and then attach a longish piece of string/wool/cord to the paperclip… once you are in the dress you can just hold the base of the zipper with one hand and pull the string over your shoulder with the other to pull up the zipper. then you can just slide the paperclip out of the eyelet. sorta like a wetsuit zip but with a removable string. :)

I love that trick, it has saved me so many times! Unfortunately, this dress has one of those teardrop pulls without an eye. I’ll be running down the street next week. Sigh.

Sigh. My kid’s only four, and he’s out of town this week with his grammy, so he couldn’t help even if he were around!

I have an idea, why don’t we mamas, single mamas, join a yoga class to firm up, and train our body to be more flexible, so we can fit in most of those pretty dresses, and flexible enough to do the zipping by our own :)

hahahahaha you are so funny. I’ve also had to train my kid to scratch my back, because the ex husband was good at that.

Andrea, that’s honestly the only thing I miss about my ex, was that he knew just where that itchy spot was… and he could zip up my dress when he was around.
