what working has taught me this time around: keep going
I’m still working. Yes, I know, it’s 9:30-something at night. Yes, I know I’m meant to be in bed watching The Illusionist. But if I don’t get this stuff done, it won’t get done, and then we’ll be up the creek without a paddle. I’m trying very hard to avoid getting overwhelmed and you know what?? I’m succeeding.
Know how? I just keep doing the next thing. I get one thing done, I move on to the next thing. I don’t try to look at the big picture — that way lies despair. Nope. I just make myself a list and keep crossing things off as they get done. If I’m organized, the list is by priority. Otherwise, I just keep plugging away at whatever I can handle until there’s daylight.
Wednesday, the King of Everything turns four. I have to get ahead of this paper avalanche or I won’t be able to go to his class and sing happy birthday!
So if you dont’ hear from me again by Thursday, send out a search party. I’ll most likely be buried beneath a mountain of paperwork somewhere in the vicinity of the fourth floor.

Working thing in a step by step manner really helps in preventing stress caused by work. When I work, I see to it that I don’t exceed my limit. I take it one work at a time like you did. It makes me more focused on the task and stop looking at the clock.

Hey, Bob! It’s so hard to just focus on the task at hand and not panic (but dinner’s not ready and I have a mountain of ironing and the kid’s lunch isn’t packed and and and)
I’m the Zen master of deep breaths.

Happy Birthday to the King!! Many hugs are coming his way from California…
Ah ha. I didn’t know that you had an Aries fireball, too! My Big Girl’s birthday is next week on April 4th.
You go Mama. You’re amazing.
That deep breathing saves me, too.
xo,

OH, Rachel. The deep breathing thing isn’t working tonight. I think I’m going to have to pull out my secret weapon and cry in the shower tonight.
this is so hard!
